Wristbands
The Great Britain Championships will operate a wristband system, in conjunction with Butlins security staff, to identify who should and should not be on-site and in the Irish dancing areas.
This is to help secure the safety of our children. Please do not try to circumvent these arrangements.
Please note that the pre-registration period for day passes has now closed.
The vast majority of people staying at Butlins during the Championships will be there for the GBs, but there will also be some ordinary visitors on site. To gain entry to the Irish dancing halls and the special GBs entertainments, you must have a valid GBs wristband, which must be worn all the time you are on site. Without the correct wristband, the Butlins security staff will not let you into the GBs areas.
Whatever your accommodation arrangements, you will fall into one of the groups below. Please read all of the notes relevant to your group carefully. They will explain how to obtain your special GBs wristbands. If you have any problems or queries, please use the GBs Enquiry Form.
- You Are Staying On Site and Booked the Special GBs Package
- You Are Staying On-Site but Booked a Normal Butlins Package
- You Are Staying Off-Site
You Are Staying On-Site and Booked the Special GBs Package
You will receive GBs wristbands upon check-in (either adult or child -- a child in this context is anyone under 18 years of age because of UK licensing laws -- not a child as per Butlins booking rules). Your wristbands will give full access to the Irish dancing halls and special GBs entertainments, as well as all of Butlins facilities, for the duration of your stay.
You Are Staying On-Site but Booked a Normal Butlins Package
You must buy separate three-day GBs wristbands to gain entry to the Irish dancing areas and events. These will be on sale at the GBs Information Desk*, situated on the first floor of the Rendezvous Conference Centre. The cost of a three-day pass will be £15 for each adult, but CHILDREN (under 18) AND GBs COMPETITORS will be FREE. Note that this is a three-day pass -- no individual day passes are available. Your wristbands will give full access to the Irish dancing halls and special GBs entertainments, as well as all of Butlins facilities, for the duration of your stay.
[* The GBs Information Desk will be open from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, and on competition days.]
You Are Staying Off-Site
You must buy special GBs day passes from the Day Visitors' Gate, for each day you wish to enter the GBs halls and events. These cost £20 per adult and £7.50 per child (under 17 as per Butlins policy), or £45 for a family (2 adults, 2 children). [These rates have been reduced from those previously advertised on the GBs website following negotiations between SERC and Butlins.] Your wristbands will permit access to the Irish dancing halls, special GBs entertainments, and to all of Butlins facilities. See below for start/expiry times.
Whilst it would be ideal not to charge a day pass for children (see note below re. competitors) this fee goes directly to Butlins for the use of their facilities, irrespective of their being used or not.
IMPORTANT: Butlins need to know who is on site to comply with their security and safety arrangements, and we must therefor supply a list of named day pass visitors in advance. If you are staying off-site you must complete a GBs Day Pass Registration Form (below) by Friday 19 September.
If you are staying off site and do not complete the above form the Butlins gate staff will not allow access to the GBs.
GBs Competitors who are staying off site, and would otherwise have to buy a day pass, will be admitted FREE ON THE DAY THEY ARE DANCING ONLY by indicating on the form below that they are competiting at the GBs. Competitor registrations will be checked against entries received by the Feis Secretary. All other days children will have to pay.
TCRGs and ADCRGs who are staying off site must also complete the form below, indicating which days they will be attending, etc. Doing so will permit FREE entry for the days requested.
Special GBs Day Passes will permit entry from 7am so that competitors have time to get themselves ready before dancing. Normal Butlins Day Passes do not start until 10am and will not get you into the GBs areas/events. Standard Butlins Day Passes expire at 8pm, but GBs Day Passes permit access to GBs-related areas/events until they are finished for the day. Day Pass visitors must then leave the site.
Please note day pass wristbands will change day to day. Any person found trying to circumvent this system will be removed from site and risk either themselves or family member(s) being disqualified from this or future events organised by SERC.
AS STATED ABOVE, FAILURE TO COMPLETE PRE-REGISTRATION FORMS FOR ALL PERSONS ATTENDING ON A DAY PASS WILL RESULT IN NO ENTRY TO THE GREAT BRITAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
